Home of Brunel’s Suspension Bridge and recent finalist in the 2008 European Capital of Culture, Bristol is as well known for it’s influence on Britain’s music scene as much as its architecture. Acts such as Roni Size, Tricky, DJ Krust, Portishead and Massive Attack originated in Bristol and it was also known in the 70’s as a home for many punk bands & in the 1980’s Bristol saw a the rise of drum ‘n’ bass and hip hop.
Bristol has a varied music and nightlife scene including live music venues such as The Funky Buddah Lounge, Madame Geisha, The Honeyclub, The Hanbury Club, The Victoria Rooms & The Old Duke attracting an influx of people to the city. A large amount of people who move to Bristol are students attending UWE, Bristol Old Vic Theatre School & Bristol University, whose graduates include Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, David Walliams & Matt Lucas and Derren Brown.
