Use your phone to keep track of your drinking
There are many ways the government & to be more specific The Department Of Health have tried to educate and enforce the general public to keep track of ther drinking and in an age where it seems an i-pod or mobile is never far away The Department Of Health have created an applicaton to keep track of your drinking on the move.
The “alcohol tracker” launched by Health Minister Gillian Merron can be downloaded from i-tunes and http://www.nhs.co.uk. It works as drinkers can input the amount and type of drinks they are consuming, the application then produces which show whether or not you are sticking to the daily unit recommended allowance (3-4 for a man/2 -3 for a woman). Users can also get informaton on how many units are in a particular drink and get feedback on their personal drinking habits.
On the launch of the application Gillian Merron said the applicaton would help as “It is all too easy to lose track of how much you drink. So as the festive parties start to build up, this innovative tool will help people keep tabs on their drinking - wherever they are. Sticking within the NHS recommended limits means you reduce the risk of serious conditions such as mouth cancer and strokes.”
The Chief Executive of Chris Sorek said the application would help as “Trying to stick within the daily unit guidelines will help people avoid the January slump and the long term health implications associated with drinking too much alcohol.”
If you dont have an i-phone or equivalent you can download the calculator for units by texting UNIT to 64746.
