Dia de los Muertos (Day Of The Dead) with Cazadores - Haunting Leeds this October

The 2nd November celebration of Dia de los Muertos puts Halloween firmly in the shade when it comes to brightening up those long winter nights. In true Mexican style, the festivities span over three days though every cantina and casa across the land will be buzzing with excitement and preparation for weeks beforehand.

A vibrant celebration of the lives of the dearly departed, Dia de los Muertos is symbolised by floral garlands, sugar skulls and folk art. Friends and family gather for remembrance, feasting and sharing of the nation’s favourite spirit (Cazadores).

From 19th Oct - 3rd November, five of the city’s leading bars will be offering the Cazadores Lolita for the special Dia de los Muertos price of £5:

The Cazadores Lolita is a tempting and fruity mix of Cazadores Reposado, pomegranate and freshly squeezed lime juice, finished with a touch of lemonade and a dash of orange bitters. This contemporary creation by Matthias Lataille of Green and Red was the winning cocktail of the 2008 Cazadores Hunt in London. It is best enjoyed with a salt rim and a lime wedge, like Mexican classics such as the Cazadores Paloma.

THE HUNT IS ON!

A hunt for glory, a hunt for knowledge and a hunt for the best Cazadores cocktails this side of the Los Altos highlands. That’s the brief for 30 of Leeds’ leading bartenders who will gather for the Cazadores Hunt on 2nd Nov. The day involves a rickshaw dash across the city, stopping at some of the finest bars including Azucar and neon cactus to sample authentic & classic drinks such as the Cazadores Paloma, Margarita and Sangrita. With challenges like the Margarita race (our version of the egg and spoon!) and tricky quizzes along the way, the day’s finale - the cocktail comp - will see the team that comes up with the best original Cazadores serve take home a low rider bike each, the coveted deer hunter trophy and of course the glory of winning the Leeds title!

And what better occasion for this celebration of Cazadores - Mexico’s national spirit - than Dia de los Muertos (‘day of the dead’)
