Product Review - Belvoir Ginger Cordial

Belvoir Ginger Cordial

An old favourite, this is made from cooking fresh root ginger here on the farm (not from flavourings) which gives it the genuinely spicy taste of ginger, which is so well loved. Mix with sparkling water for old-fashioned ginger beer or with hot water for a spicy warming winter toddy. For cocktails, with whisky this makes a great “Whisky Mac” and with vodka a “Moscow Mule.

CITY DRINKING Review

Belvoir Fruit Farm products are perfect in their simplicity, much like the product itself the bottles allow you to enjoy the product alone wth no distractions. The Ginger Cordial does tend to cloud probably as a result of the natural reaction of the ginger, pale in its complexion you aren’t quite sure what to make of the cordial eventual taste once you open it.

Like all well made, simple, pure products such as Belvoir’ Cordials you get a clear, uncomplcated scent of spikey ginger, which softens when mixed with water but maintains the warm essence left by the ginger.

The flavour has a similar effect; fiery ginger covers your tongue as you take your taste but because the cordial has such a great length of flavour the initial heat from the ginger fades gently away leaving a gentle warmth around your mouth and a clear flavour of gentle somewhere between fruit and spice as if you had eaten a fresh piece of ginger. Smooth and silky the texture of the ginger cordial differs from some of the other fruit based cordials in the range which have a jammy quality, Belvoir Ginger Cordial has the slick refreshing qualityas if you mixed water with the liquid pressed from from a hand of ginger.
