CITY DRINKING Review
The bottle for Macallan Fine Oak is refined & stylish. The blend of gold and silver on the labelling and wrapping around the lid give the bottle a really sophisticated appearance and the clear glass allows the pale honey liquid to glimmer in the light. The cork lid has a delicate, sharp gold embossed top, and the cork adds a real touch of authentcity and class to the bottle.
Initially there is a smoky, woody aroma that comes from The Macallan, 10 Year Fine Oak, the scent develops a deep sweet honey & fruity rich note invocative of the scottish highlands which has a warm spicy essence that remains in your nose.
The flavour has an instantenous piquancy which fills your mouth and zings along your tastebuds. The flavour develops and the smoky, woody tones that were present in the aroma return with a smooth mild long finish that is full of neutralising vanilla and fruit.
This is a lovely, flavoursome whisky full of differing tastes the longer you leave it in your mouth from the spice, to the fruit and malty oak flavours to the soothing light floral and vanilla finish.
We tried out The Macallan Fine Oak 10 Year on some people who aren’t usually whisky drinkers and even they have said they could drink this on a regular basis.
A lovely whisky for connoisseurs and occasional drinkers alike, providing a flavourful but not overpowering whisky.
