Product Review - Akvinta Vodka
Akvinta Vodka
Akvinta is carefully crafted using premium ingredients such as alcohol distilled from finest quality wheat and a revolutionary Quintuple Filtration system that uses five natural filters to purify the water and the finished product in turn. When tasted, Akvinta has a distinctive but subtle aftertaste – just like spring water tastes when compared to plain table water.
Akvinta vodka is manufactured from Grain Neutral Spirit (GNS), distilled out of organically grown grain by Dister S.p.a., Faenza, Italy.
In August 2008, Dister S.p.a. was awarded two certificates confirming organic origin of alcohol:
Certificate of Conformity to the EEC 2092/91 Regulations
Certificate of Organic Operation in conformity to US Agricultural Department standard of National Organic Programme (USDA-NOP)
CITY DRINKING Review
Akvinta s beautiful in design and this beauty starts from the bottle encassing the vodka. Delicate in appearance there are some really stylish touches from the ruby red jewel lid and base colouring, to the embossing on the front of the bottle stating the Quintuple Filtration which resembles an idyllic Roman stamp of approval. The glass is crystal clear and there are gold and black detail in the fluid artisan Akvinta logo. So far from its appearance Akvinta delivers precisely what it promises; elegance, style, taste and a flavour of its mediterranean origins.
The scent of the vodka is very floral in its perfume. Light & smooth without the sometimes off putting raw punch of some vodkas, Akvinta has a beautifully unintrusive warm floral tone which although very clear and simple will add real complexity and richness to the flavour when used in a cocktail.
The taste is as prescribed by Akvintas producers. Those floral notes continue into the flavour of the vodka and so does the warmth. Akvinta is incredibly smooth and has a real zing in the initial taste which then evolves as the lovely light floral quality comes through as the pepperiness fades. There is no trace of any harshness or face pulling effect you get from some vodkas and although the length isnt as long as some, the lightness, aromatic quality means that you enjoy the flavour but also want to drink more rather than the vodka being overpowering and tastebud numbing.
Wonderful neat, with a mixer, over ice or in a cocktail. There is little said on the bottle about the product and that is because this vodka says it all in the glass.
