Product Review - Daas Blond
Daas Blond
Daas Blond is an authentic Belgian strong gold beer. The honey spice aromas and perfect balance of bitter sweet flavours are followed by a classic dry hop finish. Second fermentation occurs inside the bottle to mature and carbonate the beer naturally
Daas Blond is brewed from all barley malt and is a live beer that pours a pale hazy golden colour with a thinnish white head. it has a nicely aromatic hint of toffee and it is quite full and richly textured, with coriander spice and cool lemony fruit. it would seem to have a lot of wheat beer character, with freshness and more than a little dry hoppy bite to the finish.
CITY DRINKING Review
The bottle is as authentic as the beer inside. The shape of the bottle is unequivocally European, stylish whether in your fridge or in your hand and has an appearance synonymous with beers from this region of Europe, making a clear statement of the origins of Daas. The labelling is some of the most stylish of any beer on the market and has a bohemian feel with the griffin symbol, font of the writing and the kitsch wallpaper style background. The colour of the beer is hidden within the brown glass bottle, however the colouring used on the letter matches the deep golden colour of the beer which demonstrates great attention to detail.
There is a wonderful smoothness to the scent of Dass Blond, there is a rich sweet perfume and a surprisingly distinct smell of bananas, as it fades there is a background of that dry hop smell present which defines good beers.
This combination of tones is so intriguing you have to have a taste and the sweet richness of honey and the toffee comes through straight away and there is a spice sensation that is carried by the bubbles on your tongue and as they pop there is a refreshing citrus finish which means that you don’t have that dry feeling in your mouth like you get with some beers. The flavour from the beer although multi layered does have a nice length. The flavour changes from when you first drink the beer to when it does eventually fade which makes this beer very easy to drink, and can be drunk for long periods. The sweetness and acidity created by the second fermentation and citrus elements could be too much for some after a fair few bottles but they allow a drinking quality resembling some lagers.
A certain choice for beer lovers and first timers alike.
